I understand that the thermistor is reading on the low side, but to my knowledge this should cause an issue with heating, not starting. Jul 13, 2010, 12:01 pm.
The first place to start when a dryer won't turn and makes a humming noise is to check for foreign objects that may be blocking the drum from turning.
Ge dryer won't start makes buzzing noise. I would go into the dryer and examine the drum and see if it is in any way binding. Try using a multimeter to detect current continuity. (makes it seem like the motor huh?) the timer still ticks.
Gas dryers may produce a buzzing when the solenoid valve opens. If you are hearing sounds or noises that are not normal, please check the following: The dryer makes a loud buzzing sound when you press the start knob.
If your ge dryer won’t stop beeping, or is beeping in a sequence, you should always try performing a reset, and/or running a diagnostic on the machine. If after you disconnect the belt the drum turns freely, take it out and jumper the lid switch and see if the motor will come on when you start the dryer. If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device.
When the problem first started, if you kept pressing the start knob, the internal circuit breaker. Be sure to tape the door switch wires together or use the air fluff cycle. If the lights are on but the drum isn't turning and there's no humming noise, there's a good chance the dryer motor has given out.

It clicks but won’t start. Open the door and manually reach in and rotate the drum in the counter clockwise direction for a couple of complete revolutions and then shut the door and see if the dryer will start. If it it's too hard to rotate then it could have a seized motor or a drum bearing issue.
The thermistor reads 8.5 ohms at 70°f. Open the door and manually rotate the drum in a counter clockwise direction. When it starts to buzz try turning the drum by hand.
Shut the door and push start. Use a multimeter test (on the rx1 setting) to test for consistency of the terminals before then checking the bare metal of the motor. Dryer makes buzzing noise but won't start (easy fix!) if playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device.
If it's the motor buzzing/humming when the start button is pushed then it likely has a bad motor. If your dryer will not start and instead makes a clicking noise, it is most likely due to a fault with the door switch, start switch, or thermal fuse. I have a ge dbxr463gg7ww gas dryer.
If when you do this the dryer starts and runs normal your problem will be in the motor. The sound should go away after the first few seconds of operation. The drum is harder to 'spin' by hand a little bit.

If the dryer can't detect that the door is securely closed, it simply won't do anything. That buzzing noise may be something as simple as a loose connection between the motor coupling and the pump. They may also beep or buzz if the unit is too warm or if the lint trap is full.
